HYDROTHERAPY

 

Pamela originally trained in Hydrotherapy at Harlow Wood Orthopedic Hospital which was one of the leading centres for this long established aspect of human Physiotherapy.

Safety and the correct and appropriate use and application of Hydrotherapy is the aim of the Canine Physio-Hydro Centre

A Veterinary referral is essential.

All dogs are showered before entering the pool

The dog is raised by a hoist and is placed in the warm water for its Hydrotherapy session which may consist of purely a swim to mobilise joints and strengthen muscles, or a "hands-on" session of Physiotherapy to ensure correct movement patterns and the protection of weak muscles or joints following surgery.

 

A trained technician is also present to ensure correct positioning of the dog in the water and to maintain maximum safety whilst the dog is receiving his treatment.

Hydrotherapy is often used in conjunction with other Physiotherapy techniques as part of a total rehabilitation programme. see *Conditions Treated

A mobile hoist is also available to lift dogs from the car park and take them directly into the pool room
 

Dog owners are requested to:

bulletBring their own towels for drying the dog
bulletEnsure that the dog has had sufficient exercise for toileting purposes prior to attending

Not all dogs take to Hydrotherapy. In some instances an alternative technique will be suggested. A happy patient when he leaves will always be happy to attend for his next session!
